Small Group Tutoring

Small Group Tutoring

Premium small-group classes built around your child's school, year level, and stage.

The CMC difference

Maximum six students per tutor

Every class is capped at six students per tutor — the attention of private tutoring, with the structure of a class. Small enough for genuine attention. Large enough for peer learning.

Four class types

A group that fits your child

We offer four distinct types of small-group class, each designed for a different stage or need. Your child joins the group that fits them best.

1

School-Specific Classes

Grouped by school. Aligned to your child's exact curriculum.

Our flagship format — your child's exact school curriculum, taught a step ahead. Read about School Specific Classes →

2

Mixed-School Classes

Same-stage students from different schools.

For students whose school doesn't yet have a dedicated group, we run mixed classes grouped by stage. Tutors adapt the lesson to support each student with what they're learning at school — reinforcement where school has already covered a topic, and preparation where school is yet to. Every student gets maximum support, regardless of where their school sits in the curriculum.

3

Accelerated Classes

Working one year ahead of school.

For students working above year level, we run classes that move through next year's curriculum. A Year 5 or 6 student spends the year working through Year 7 content. A Year 7 student works through Year 8. And so on. Available from Year 5 through senior years.

4

Transition to High School

Preparing upper-primary students for the jump.

Built for students in Year 4 and above, these classes cover the core foundational areas needed for confident entry into high-school maths.

  • Term 1 — Number and Operations
  • Term 2 — Fractions, Percentages, Decimals
  • Term 3 — Measurement, Geometry, Statistics & Probability
  • Term 4 — Negative Integers, Algebra & Equations

How we teach

Understanding, not just answers

Every lesson uses a mix of teaching modes designed to build genuine understanding.

  • Direct instruction — introducing new concepts step by step
  • Whiteboard work — students show their thinking and refine solutions
  • Working & presentation — communicating reasoning to earn full marks
  • Weekly review — consolidating prior material every session
  • Homework support — for questions students bring from school
Homework expectations Years 7–9 — approximately 90 minutes per week. Years 10–12 — approximately 2 hours per week.
